Looking For A Paediatric Osteopath In Wandsworth?

Osteopaths are trained to assess and treat newborn infants and babies. During the consultation the osteopath will perform a full case history to
determine the contributing and causing factors of your baby’s symptoms, including your pregnancy and delivery history. If appropriate and suitable, an assessment of your child and a subsequent tailored treatment will be
provided.

Babies’ skeletons are softer than an adult’s therefore we will be using a range of gentler cranial techniques including physical manipulation, stretching and massage which are suitable for children and babies. Cranial techniques are safe, gentle, and non-manipulative and they are often used when treating young children and newborn infants and could help ease your baby’s symptoms.

The philosophy of osteopathy is based, in part, on the belief that the body has a built-in self-regulatory system and is able to repair itself. Osteopaths are of the opinion that the movement of body fluids is critical to health maintenance and that nerves play an important part in the body’s fluid dynamics.

What To Expect From Paediatric Osteopathy

Osteopaths work under the principle that there may be a number of contributing factors to the symptoms and will therefore evaluate not only the area which is producing the symptoms, but also associated areas that may be contributing to the presenting complain.

Our osteopaths will also provide you with package of care that will include health information, advice and support, and/or individualised exercise therapy to do at home, as determined by the individual needs of the baby. If appropriate for your baby, the osteopath might give you postural advice related to breastfeeding as well.
