Osteopath and Health Psychologist

Dr. Danny Miller is is a registered osteopath and health psychologist working at Phoenix Osteopathy in Wandsworth Common. People see him about back or neck pain, a troublesome knee, shoulder or hip, and injuries from sport. He has a particular interest in pain that has lasted longer than expected, keeps returning or has not improved with previous treatment.

Danny’s training in both osteopathy and health psychology shapes the way he works. Care may include hands-on treatment, advice and exercise. It also makes space for the questions that often come with pain: Why has it lasted? What is safe to do? How can I return to normal life? Understanding pain and rebuilding confidence in movement can be important parts of recovery.

Danny completed a professional doctorate in health psychology, studying how people receiving osteopathic care live well with pain. He is chief investigator for a national research project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. The project explores how touch and communication affect people with persistent low back pain.

He also teaches at the UCO School of Osteopathy within Health Sciences University, where he supervises student osteopaths as they assess and treat patients in the university clinic.

Before moving into healthcare, Danny spent 17 years working in the City of London. He understands the pressure of a demanding job and how pain can begin to affect work, family life and the things you enjoy.
